Rewind to 1997. One of the in-house IT guys employed by a company to which we were proposing our managed services was in high spirits, especially after being up all night getting the company’s email server back up and running.
But back then that was the norm. Heck, if these guys hired us (which they did), our engineers would be right there with him, pulling an all-nighter (which they did end up doing a few times).
This was the era of the caped IT crusader — the era in which you did what you had to do to get it done. You know exactly what I mean. This was the time of unstable networks that required Herculean efforts on the part of IT professionals.
